Wild Fun Ahead: Your April Weekend on Bunyonyi

We had a superb night on Habukomi Island last month and realised we wanted more, and bigger, and better… That’s why we are now inviting you to our Weekend in the Wild!

For bookings or more information please contact +256 776 558 123 (WhatsApp or call) or have a look at the detailed program below…

Program in detail:

Friday, 7 April 2017, Arrival Day: Make it to Edirisa on Lake Bunyonyi, a cozy and intriguing location on the shore of perhaps the most beautiful lake in the world (see Edirisa’s facilities and watch a video about Lake Bunyonyi). Transport is your own arrangement but we can help with bookings and coordination for you. Dinner at 8pm is the first official part of the program, however, you can come any time. Accommodation in dorm beds or camping in Edirisa’s fully-equipped tents (your choice; first pay first serve). If you are new to camping we have a useful article for you.

Saturday, 8 April 2017, Trekking Day: We want to push you a little, but again not too much. This is a day of hiking (from 10am to 4pm) but minus the first hour, all will be quite easy. Hey, even Isabelle Lydia Masozera has managed (read Izy’s hilarious story)! You will survive the steep slope to reach Arcadia Cottages with the lake’s iconic view. Then you will continue on the ridge (just a little bit up and down) to Kyabahinga peninsula where a traditional healer and a craftmaker are our stars. A filling local meal at the craftmaker’s family will be your late lunch but we will also have a picnic snack on the way. After that you will descend back to the lake and enter dugout canoes to paddle to Tom’s Homestay on a remote island. This includes a campfire dinner, a traditional musician, cultural stories, a tented overnight and a tasty breakfast.

Sunday, 9 April 2017, Canoeing Day: Let’s explore the islands! There’s Punishment Island where pregnant unmarried girls used to be left to die. There’s Sharp’s Island, the home of the British missionary who helped stopped the practice. There’s Bwama Island where Dr Sharp built a leprosy hospital that is now an island secondary school. There’s Kyahugye, the island that belongs to Governor Mutebire himself and has zebras and antelopes! After lunch back at Edirisa you will continue to Nature’s Prime’s island for the Supreme Adventure Park experience. And then, well, a night bus back home if you really need to report for duty on Monday (if you are in a bigger hurry, we can even get you onto a bus straight after Tom’s Homestay on Sunday morning). If you have more time, on the other hand, Edirisa on Lake Bunyonyi can host you for as many nights as you wish, at a discounted price!
