In April we asked future trekkers to send us their photos and fulfill the wish expressed by the host family at Lake Kayumbu. This is the first submission, already laser-printed on an A4 sheet, waiting to be delivered to Gerald and Jackline.
Kirk and Shawn are bringing their daughters Casey and Cameron to Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda next month. After they finish a cycling trip with Rwandan Adventures, we will collect them in Musanze by car. Their 3-day custom hike will begin on the Ugandan border, at Cyanika, and lead them to Lake Kayumbu for a night of camping. Then they will cross Echuya Forest, led by John Kanusu, and make it to Tom’s Homestay. On the last day they will meet Anna, our craftmaker, and Jeremiah, the traditional healer, and have fun at Edirisa Nursery School. After a little break at Edirisa, the car will take them to Kigali.
The family is from Seattle, Washington in the northwestern corner of the United States of America. Casey, who is an accomplished dancer, just finished high school and will attend university next fall. Cameron, a fierce football player, has two years of high school left to complete. And the parents? Kirk didn’t tell us much, so it will be up to their Kayumbu hosts to inquire!
