Comfort Is Comfortable & Shall Make You Comfy

📁

Heard of Comfort Kansiime? She’s our freshest face and started in July, bright-eyed and ready for adventure. (You might’ve noticed we’re now officially called just “Lake Bunyonyi” on socials, but this profile will prove that Edirisa’s spirit is still beating strong underneath.)

For Comfort, the gig at Edirisa on Lake Bunyonyi is her first proper job — ever! She’s only 19, but already sharper than some of us with twice the years. Until recently, her world was school and home in Bufuka village. Now? She’s dipping her toes in a whole new life … quite literally. The lake’s just a few steps from the office and she’s a big fan of sneaky swims on hot afternoons. Can you blame her?

School wasn’t exactly a party for her. Like many Ugandan kids, the shift to boarding school was rough. She got picked on, especially for being quiet and petite. There was even a nasty tradition where newbies were mocked as “Engata,” which basically means “not too bright.” Lovely, right?

Our place is different. Before Comfort even arrived, team leader Brenda was already keeping her in the loop. By the time she met the rest of the crew, she felt like part of the family. Right off the bat, she jumped into action with Wheeling2help, the Greek-Cypriot volunteer invasion that takes place every year. Whether translating or getting hands-on with their skilling projects, she soaked it all up like a sponge.

Here, everyone’s expected to learn by doing. Comfort’s taken the challenge and run with it. She’s now eyeing opportunities beyond Bunyonyi, and rumour has it she’s prepping for her first passport. Looks like the travel bug’s caught her. We approve. As long as she comes back!
