Free WhatsApp-Based Training for Tour Guides

📁

Interested in expanding your knowledge about the Gorilla Highlands region comprised of Rwanda, western Uganda and eastern Congo? Ready to boost your professional skills?

In June 2023 we are starting tour guide training in a purposely-made WhatsApp group that will cover a different topic every (other) day. We will tackle everything from the biggest cities to the tiniest animals and devote ample time to generally improving everyone’s customer service.

This is completely free of charge and open to people from any of the three countries. You only need to have:
1) tourism, history, culture or nature knowledge
2) motivation to actively participate in discussions
3) self-control to not post off-topic stuff

To enrol, fill in our little survey … Whether you are a relative beginner or seasoned pro, you will benefit for sure!

Tomaž Malovrh — together with his wife and younger son — was part of the pioneering three-week tour that opened the post-pandemic era of Gorilla Highlands Experts in 2022. He is an orthopedic trauma surgeon who first came to Africa as a member of a student group volunteering at a missionary hospital in Zambia in 1999–2000. Since then, he has been actively involved in educating medical students and nurses who choose to participate in humanitarian missions through the Section for Tropical and Travel Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. The Malovrhs are at home in Kranj, Slovenia. [bio updated: 2026-04]
