Reward your stomach and let the Traveling Roots team take you on a flavour-packed journey across the continent, showing how love for hospitality powers their work. You will be invited to cook with them (if you fancy that part) and to chat around the campfire, sharing stories and experiences. But the highlight, of course, will be their stupendous Rwandan, South African and other delicacies from all over Africa. This is not for foodies only; it’s for anyone who craves joyful company!

Itinerary

Your Trans-African Braai Party starts rocking days in advance, when a simple form collects your dietary style and food preferences and records any allergies or requested exclusions. If such things bore you, feel free to skip it altogether and be surprised, but any information you volunteer will fuel our imagination!
Once you arrive, your 2–3 hours of guided cooking and shared dining begin … You will meet the whole team and every ingredient, and be invited to roll up your sleeves. Not your cup of tea? No biggie; relax and wait for the fruits of the kitchen to delight you!

Depending on what you’ve told us and the team’s mood on the day, the menu could take its cue from one of these tables:
• The African Comfort
Rwandan pumpkin with beans, South African beef potjiekos, Ghanaian-style jollof rice and Moroccan chicken tagine, followed by malva pudding with custard.
• Fire & Spice Across Africa
Rwandan goat brochettes, South African boerewors with pap and chakalaka, Nigerian beef suya and Senegalese chicken yassa, followed by milk tart with seasonal fruit.
• The African Harvest
Rwandan isombe, Ugandan beans and plantains, Ethiopian spiced lentils with injera and Moroccan vegetable couscous, followed by seasonal fruit with fresh mint.
Once you’ve conquered everything on your plate, the party isn’t over! We all move on to the campfire and chat about pretty much anything as our tummies process the feast.
