The Congo Nile Trail is a spectacular adventure on the Rwandan shores of Lake Kivu, for both hikers and bikers.
From the northern to the southern end of Rwanda’s Kivu coast, a hiker will take 10 days and a biker 4-5. On the way you will find well-spaced overnight solutions (some are rather basic) with decent restaurants. During the day snacking at roadside little shops can be an option.

A dozen Ravbar travellers (one of them a 10-year girl that needed a smaller bike) cycled downhill…

Congo Nile Trail — Hooray, Out of the Way!
For me, 2021 has been a period of getting things out of the way. Primarily among them: the terabytes of video footage that had been waiting on dozens of disks. The original idea was to convert most of this material into video In-Sights, but those productions weren’t met with sufficient enthusiasm to warrant the excessive…

SABA Episode #7 — Congo Nile Trail & Staring at the Muzungu
That photo above, that’s something I can totally get behind! Miha took a picture of Cesar Niyonkuru before they embarked on a lovely chat about the Congo Nile Trail, a hiking or cycling adventure on the eastern side of Lake Kivu that is the topic of the seventh episode of SEE AFRICA BREATHE AFRICA. The…

It was established in 2010 by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to show visitors and investors the opportunities in this amazing part of our country, and to create jobs for local people. As you cycle or hike on…
